Repository Policy

Ipso Jure is a fully open access journal committed to maximizing the dissemination and impact of scholarly research in the field of law. To support this goal, the journal allows authors to deposit versions of their articles in institutional or other repositories of their choice, in line with our open access principles and the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). This policy outlines the conditions under which authors may deposit their work.

Permitted Versions for Deposit

Authors are permitted to deposit the following versions of their articles in any institutional or subject-specific repository (e.g., university repositories, Zenodo, SSRN, or other platforms):

  • Pre-print: The version of the manuscript submitted to Ipso Jure before peer review.
  • Post-print (Accepted Manuscript): The version of the manuscript after peer review and revisions, but before final formatting and typesetting by the journal.
  • Version of Record (Published Version): The final published version of the article, as it appears on the Ipso Jure website, including journal formatting and branding.

Conditions for Deposit

  • No Embargo: There is no embargo period for depositing any version of the article. Authors may deposit their work immediately upon submission (for pre-prints), acceptance (for post-prints), or publication (for the version of record).
  • Attribution: Authors must include proper attribution when depositing their work, including:
    • The article’s full citation (author names, article title, journal name, volume, issue, year, and DOI, if applicable).
    • A statement indicating that the article is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.
    • A link to the published version on the Ipso Jure website (e.g., “Originally published in Ipso Jure at [insert URL]”).
  • Licensing: All deposited versions must comply with the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, which allows reuse and distribution with proper attribution and the same license terms.
  • Disclosure: For pre-prints or post-prints, authors should indicate the article’s status (e.g., “This is a pre-print submitted to Ipso Jure” or “This is the accepted manuscript, forthcoming in Ipso Jure”).

Where to Deposit

Authors may deposit their articles in:

  • Institutional repositories (e.g., university or research institute repositories).
  • Subject-specific repositories (e.g., SSRN for legal scholarship).
  • General-purpose repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare).
  • Personal websites or academic profiles (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu), provided the above attribution requirements are met.

Journal’s Commitment

Ipso Jure encourages authors to deposit their work in repositories to enhance the visibility and accessibility of their research. This policy aligns with our open access model, which ensures that all articles are freely available on the journal’s website without financial or legal barriers. Authors retain full copyright of their work under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, granting Ipso Jure the right to publish the article as an open access work.
